Monday MLB Bets

Phillies vs Mets (-120)

Matt Harvey has had a shaky two seasons, but the Mets bats were looking pretty good against the Cardinals. The Phillies got off to a disappointing start and have to travel from Atlanta to New York from this matchup while the Mets get to stay at home. I think the Mets bats are going to be able to overcome any struggles that Matt Harvey has on the mound.

Twins (+115) vs Pirates

I kept thinking the Pirates were going to lose against the Tigers and boy was I wrong. However, the Pirates did just play a double header yesterday and are sure to be tired after making the trip from Detroit to Pittsburgh and playing 3 games in just a little over 27 hours. This is not a normal schedule for any MLB team and I would bet against any team in this same spot. Jameson Taillon is good, but I think the Pirates offense is going to be the problem today. This is Lance Lynn’s first start as a Twin and I’m sure he’ll put on a good pitching display for all the fans at PNC.

*Not opposed to throwing a unit on the under in this one too (u8 -120)*

Orioles vs Astros -1.5 (-115)

I do not recommend taking teams ATS often, but in this spot for the Astros, it’s highly suggested. The Astros are -220 ML, which would not get us much return on our investment and I think they can beat the Orioles by a few runs. This is the first home game for the defending World Series Champions and they looked pretty damn good in their first series against the Rangers. That’s the main difference between the Astros and the Cubs, these guys got into the season and hit the ground running because they love the game of baseball and know they’re better than everyone else. The World Series hero Charlie Morton is starting this game and he’s going to try to carry his success from the Fall Classic into this season.
