Reds vs Cardinals -1.5 (+140)
“The Lizard King”is on the mound for the Cardinals against the Reds once again after pitching against the Reds on the 14th of the month. The Cardinals won that game 6-1 behind 7 strong innings of 4 hit, 1 run baseball by Mikolas. Mikolas can hit also, so that just adds more problems for Luis Castillo. Castillo has not had much success this season, surrendering 17 runs in just 22.1 innings pitched. That’s good enough for a 6.75 ERA to start off the season. This is probably one of the many reasons that the Reds have started the season 3-17. Castillo has great success against the Cardinals current lineup, but it’s a small sample size. In just 17 at-bats, the current Cardinals only have one hit off of Castillo. Because this is not a lot of data to work with, I’m not worried about the lack of success the Cardinals have had. I think if the Cardinals are patient and selective with their pitches today, they should be able to beat the Reds with no problem. Mikolas shut them down once already this season and now he’ll be pitching against the Reds in his home ballpark.
