Phillies -125 vs Orioles
Nick Pivetta has had a pretty decent year so far, including 5 shutout innings in his last outing. Only one Orioles player has ever had an at-bat against Pivetta and as I’ve noticed this season, teams with little to no experience against an opposing pitcher have little to no success against that pitcher. The Orioles have Andrew Cashner on the mound who could come out and throw 6 shutout innings or give up 6 runs in 2 and a third, he’s very inconsistent. The Phillies have played better than most have expected this season, but not me, I thought they were going to be a good team this year even before the Arrieta signing. This is a team with a young core that has veteran presence, which has proven to be a recipe for success (Astros, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox).
Yankees -125 vs Nationals
The Yankees bats have been really hot lately and most of it was without Didi Gregorious contributing anything; Gregorious had an ugly 0-30 streak snapped the other day. Tanaka hasn’t pitched great this year, but even with a 4.66 ERA, he’s still 4-2 which means he gets run support. He’s also held the current Nationals lineup to a .270 average, which isn’t an eye-popping number, but given the hitters in the Nationals lineup, it’s pretty good. This is definitely going to be a good game, but I think the Bronx Bombers are going to continue their hot streak and get a W in the nations capital.
